Konstantin: What is you daily media menu? Which traditional media outlets you do follow to keep you informed?
Desislava: My daily media digest starts with a flood of Whatsapp messages. Then I pass on to the Facebook “trending” section and some Times features; the first doesn’t necessarily keep you updated with the latest news, but it gives the idea of the instantaneousness of peoples’ interests.
Konstantin: What about Instagram? For example, if you have to choose only three Instagram feeds to follow, which one would you choose?
Desislava: I’d choose my best friend’, even though I wish she was more frequent with it. Also, I’d choose Lou Stoppard’s and IDEA Books.
Konstantin: What is your explanation that so many Instagram feeds became so influential?
Desislava: Visuals are easy to digest. A picture’s worth a thousand words so why read?
Konstantin: Favourite brands for this Spring season? How do you discover new ones?
Desislava: Instagram in that sense has become a most frequently used utility for scouting and spotting new brands and people. I love VETEMENTS and their oversized aesthetics. I'm hooked up on Yulia Magdych's dresses and Viktor and Rolf's crooked shapes.
Konstantin: I work in media and I decided to make an entrepreneurial adventure with my wife - we started a small family business producing high end linen and cotton beach towels (yamabahari). Do you think we need to be lucky to succeed in this market or just continue to make a high quality product? Your advise?
Desislava: I think your idea is quite cool and you have to make sure you expand your shipping spots as much as possible and also, don’t be afraid to make collaborations.
Konstantin: Ever thought about creating your own brand as well, just to see what will happen?
Desislava: I’d love to have my own concept store. That would be my brand-collective idea about certain aesthetics and values.
Konstantin: If you have to choose one clothing - which one is timeless - for women and another one for men?
Desislava: Biker jacket. The bigger the better.
Konstantin: What is the perfect number of Instagram posts per day or it all depends on the mood?
Desislava: Personally, it’s up to my mood. Professionally, I’d assume 2 or 3 at key moments when everyone’s on their social media, say having their morning coffee.
Konstantin: What kind of inspiration or education should a person have in order to become a fashion journalist?
Desislava: Being a fashion enthusiast doesn’t make you a fashion journalist. Being a blogger either. I've tried both so I guess you simply have to be a good journalist and have a good knowledge in art and fashion history. I hope that one day I can attain enough of both.
Konstantin: Did you consider any other profession, rather than this?
Desislava: Yes, my first ever memory was that I wanted to be a designer. Well, that didn’t work out really, did it?
Konstantin: Finally, choose your favourite song for us.
Desislava: I’ve been awfully obsessed with Bowie’s album “Golden Years” and a cover song called “Wild is the Wind”, originally recorded by Johnny Mathis.
